Aside from some overnight showers in Helsinki, it really hasn’t rained at all during my visit. This coming after several months of heavy rains that damaged much of Finland’s potato crop.
Guess I picked a good time to visit, as today turned out to be another beautiful day. Bright sunshine, blue skies and puffy clouds.
Posted a “Finnish Flora” album to my personal Facebook page. Have already posted 25 pictures there with more to follow.
I cooked some spaghetti and meat sauce for lunch. The spaghetti had a 2007 expiration date, so hopefully that was a good year for pasta! Does it age like fine wine? 🙂 Tried to add some garlic and onion powders but they were beyond usable haha!
Talked with my parents on Skype, then went swimming for the first time this summer down at Pihjalan Niemi…the local beach. The air temp was about 24C/75F. The water was pretty cold at first, but turned out to be quite refreshing.
Heated up sauna. Terttu called and invited me for dinner (chicken). Came back to our cottage to wash the dishes, then went back to play cards with Terttu and Leena.
I returned to the cottage around 10PM. Watched an old Finnish movie from the 1950s, then some Ally McBeal, Conan O’Brien and Modern Marvels: The Pentagon. Interesting stuff. Went to bed around 2AM.
