Tuesday

I left Altoona around 2PM. Security was a bit of a hassle, as I had packed a bunch of camera cables and power adapters in my camera bag. They took most of it out to rescan, then I repacked it myself. Note to self: next time use clear plastic bags or pack this stuff in my checked bag!

Our flight stopped briefly in Johnstown…this was the first Silver Airways flight I have experienced. They took over as the local contract carrier for United Airlines just last week.

We arrived in Washington around 330PM and had a decent wait. My fight to Frankfurt was scheduled to leave around 7 and was a little late in departing.

The plane actually loaded quickly as there were many empty seats, I’d say about 1/3 empty. I had 3 seats to myself so I was able to stretch out and catch a few zzzz’s.

Interestingly enough, the new carry on suitcase I bought yesterday was too big for the overhead compartment. Fortunately, they allowed me to put it in a bin in First Class. At least my bag traveled in style!
