Slept in late, then went shopping with Mikko and Jessica. We came back to the apartment and made tortillas and later, daiquiris.

In the evening, we stopped by the Lappeenranta harbor. Took a couple pictures of an idle lake cruise boat and “snow bear”.

Timo came over later and we all played games, watched TV and drank mass quantities. Got to bed around 3AM.

Another day of sleeping in late…gotta love vacation!

Timo crashed while Mikko’s cat Vilho contemplated his next move. That next move turned out to be crawling inside an empty 12 pack of beer! Sense a trend here? Yep, everybody drinks in Finland!

Watched the rest of 80’s slasher movie “My Bloody Valentine” on DVD. Went back to Harri and Mirja’s in the evening, then with Timo to check out his new apartment and cat Alli.

Had a few beers (surprise, surprise!) with Timo before Harri picked me up. We played some more Kimble and turned in around 3AM.

Got up around 9:30…could have slept longer but we had a busy day ahead. I packed my things and we left Lappeenranta before noon. Picked up a few souvenirs at a rest stop on our way.

Next, we visited my cousin Merja and her family in Porvoo. This was the first time I had ever been to their home…very nice place!

From there, we went to see my cousin Tapio in Vantaa, where we watched some old home movies from the 1960s. Tapio had converted them to video…was nice to see them again after many years.

Last stop! Mirja and Harri dropped me off at my cousin Antti’s place in Helsinki. We stayed up late looking at Antti’s family vacation pix from Lake Saimaa and the U.K.

Slept about an hour, then Antti dropped me off at the airport at 5AM to begin my long journey home…
