Got up around 8AM and had breakfast.

Ville went to the store to buy some fish for dinner. He and Raija ran some errands while I re-packed my bags and worked on the computer.

Antti picked me up late afternoon so I could check in and drop my suitcase at the airport. My flight leaves early in the morning so it’s easier to get checked in the night before. He dropped me off and went to run some errands.

After my Lufthansa problems on the way over, I had a feeling there would be more problems this time around. My intuition was right: they had no reservation for me in their system 🙁

I talked with a Lufthansa rep at the counter. No luck. She sent me to a Star Alliance rep. She was rather rude and eventually shut her window and told me to call my airline…nice. Called Lufthansa and they were no help either. By this time, Antti was back at the airport to pick me up.

Grabbed my bag and we went back to Antti’s apartment. He let me use his phone so I could call US Airways, the airline I booked my trip through originally. Talked to a very nice lady in Phoenix, AZ who eventually got me re-booked on my flight from Helsinki to Frankfurt. What a hassle!

Good thing I went to the airport tonight, otherwise I would have been out of luck in the morning. There is a 9 hour time difference between Helsinki and Phoenix, so the airline call center would have been closed.

After all that excitement, it was nice to relax and have a nice dinner with Antti and his family. Tomorrow would be a long day!
