Friday

I was exhausted, so it was a good thing I slept pretty well. Had breakfast and showered.

We left Lappeenranta around midday to go visit Harri and Mirja’s daughter, Minna. She and her husband A.P. live near Kouvola. Minna gave birth to their first child (Harri and Mirja’s first grandchild), a girl, just last Friday.

The weather was quite snowy en route. We arrived at Minna’s around 2:30. She and A.P. are remodeling their 100+ year old house, and A.P.’s parents are there helping.

We had a nice visit. Harri and I took a lot of baby pictures and played with their dog, Ida.

Mirja spent a lot of time outside doing “snow work,” shoveling around their driveway and cleaning off the car. It kept snowing all afternoon and evening…yes this is a proper Finnish winter!

Harri, Mirja and I left around 7PM and made good time driving back, despite the snow. We got to Lappeenranta, had some drinks and snacks, then turned in around 11:30PM.
